KD 14m aid given to needy families
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: Deputy Director General for Social Services at Zakat House Dr Majed AlAzmi disclosed that in 2020, the institution granted KD14.498 million financial aid to 15,642 families who are residing illegally in the country, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Al-Azmi said KD 4.361 million out of the above-mentioned amount was distributed to 2,160 families who received aid monthly; while the remaining KD 10.137 million was distributed to 13,482 families.
He added Zakat House also provided in-kind assistance to this group including food, electronics, clothes and school supplies like bags which were distributed to 4,173 families at a total cost of KD 926,000.
He also affirmed that Zakat House has developed the electronic services provided to beneficiaries in a bid to facilitate and simplify procedures for submitting assistance requests and providing customer service through its website and WhatsApp which were announced on its social media accounts, so the aid applicants are no longer required to visit the institution for such transactions.
Since the beginning of the corona crisis in February last year, followed by the gradual resumption of work in ministries and other State agencies; the administration of Zakat House has been keen on taking precautionary measures approved by the Ministry of Health in its buildings and branches in the governorates and its revenue centers to curb the spread of corona, ensure continuation of work, protect the interests of beneficiaries, and grant aid only to those who deserve it.
