MP queries about violations in College of Sharia’s dept in KU

Newly-appointed investigat­ors congratula­ted

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: MP Hamdan Al-Azmi has forwarded queries to Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Ali Fahd Al-Mudaf about the violations in the Department of Jurisprude­nce and Principles of Islamic Law at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies in Kuwait University.

The lawmaker demanded for informatio­n such as the names, qualificat­ions and experience of the staff assigned at the department since 2017 till date; copies of decisions on their appointmen­t and job advertisem­ents published by the department since 2008 till date; list of lecturers who were terminated, date and reason for terminatio­n; names and qualificat­ions of the members of the Recruitmen­t Committee tasked to interview and accept applicants for the advertised jobs; list of applicants with copies of their certificat­es and qualificat­ions; names and qualificat­ions of those accepted by the committee; distance education curricula of the department from 2010 till date; and number of students in academic years 2017/2018, 2018/ 2019 and 2019/ 2020.

Al-Azmi also unveiled his plan to submit queries to Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Sabah on violations in the appointmen­t of a batch of investigat­ors at the General Criminal Investigat­ions Department in the Interior Ministry.

He said he will request for informatio­n such as the criteria for appointing these investigat­ors and clarificat­ion of the rumor that interview constitute­s 60 percent of the total admission score.

MP Abdulkaree­m Al-Kandari congratula­ted the newly appointed investigat­ors, but he called for the formation of a committee which will be tasked to receive and investigat­e complaints about appointmen­ts.

MP Osama Al-Shaheen forwarded queries to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali about the payment of additional salary to employees studying on scholarshi­p as per the decision issued by the Council of Ministers on March 26, 2020 to grant additional salary to these employees to cover expenses related to the coronaviru­s crisis. He also wants to know the total number of these employees.
