Envoy expresses gratitude to Kuwait for supporting ‘legitimacy’ of Yemen

- By Shawqi Mahmoud Al-Seyassah Staff

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: The Ambassador of Yemen to Kuwait, Professor Ali Mansour bin Svaa expressed his country’s gratitude and appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Kuwaiti leadership and people, through its political and diplomatic moves, to try to find an end to the Yemeni crisis and praised the continued Kuwaiti trend in support of Yemeni legitimacy.

In a statement to Al-Seyassah daily

Bin Svaa recalled the tremendous efforts exerted by Kuwait to contain the crisis since its outbreak and host the parties to the conflict for nearly 100 days, but unfortunately these colossal efforts collided with the intransigence of the Houthi militia representatives, which led to the exacerbation of the crisis and the increase in the suffering of the Yemeni people – the militias which continue to terrorize the security forces and rob the Yemeni people.

Regarding the US administration’s decision to classify the Houthi militia as a foreign terrorist group, Bin Svaa said the classification of the Houthi militia as a terrorist group must be viewed as a cumulative step for the efforts of the Yemeni government and in concert with the efforts of the international community and many countries, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to support the transitional phase.

The Houthi militia participated in the comprehensive national dialogue that lasted 10 months, and the Yemenis put forth solutions for all Yemeni issues, including the Sa’ada issue. He added The writing of the Yemeni constitution was started with the support of the international community, but the Houthi militias, as usual, did not abide by that and turned down more than 70 agreements with the Yemeni government, local authorities, tribes and the United Nations.

Moreover, they practiced all kinds of terrorist acts such as killing, bombing houses, recruiting children and sending them to the battlefront.

Bin Svaa pointed out that since the Houthi militia coup, the international efforts spearheaded by the United States of America and the European Union have relied on diplomacy without any means of pressure on the Houthi militias, which have exploited this situation to prolong the war and without serious involvement in the political process.
