Four working in UK health office get life in cash fraud
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: The Misdemeanor Court acquitted a Kuwaiti woman who was accused of breach of trust and theft of an expensive car that was left under her care by her husband.
According to the case file, the husband told investigation officers that his wife had breached the trust between them after he bought a luxury Germanmade car and left it under her care, but she later refused to return it to him.
The husband admitted that the two had marital challenges and he tried to solve issues amicably especially in regard to the car but the wife refused to return it.
When the wife was questioned, she told the court that the plaintiff did not ask her to return the car and that she is ready to surrender it to him.
Life in prison:
The Criminal Court, headed by Counselor Abdullah Al-Osaimi has sentenced 4 Europeans working for the Kuwait Health Office in London to life imprisonment, and fined them double the amount they have embezzled in what is believed to be the severest punishment yet to be imposed in embezzlement cases, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to court papers the men are said to have embezzled collectively £11 million. An informed source told Al-Qabas that this ruling confirms the need for strict protection of public funds at home and abroad, and added the Public Prosecution has exerted great efforts in this case, by investigating officials at home and abroad, and employees of the Ministry of Health, and concluded that there were documents proving the embezzlement of money.
The source pointed out that rulings in most cases of embezzlement of public money are issued with prison sentences and fines, and this is evidence that corruption is being detected is on the increase, and there is no longer a cover for the sick conscience and betrayers of trust and those who abuse power.
Teen strangulated:
Police have arrested an unidentified person for strangulating and attempting to kill a Kuwaiti, who is believed to be 18 years old, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily added, the victim was rushed to the Mubarak Al-Kabir hospital suffering from difficulty to breathe.
According to police investigations the victim was strangled when he was inside a vehicle in Salwa.
The identity of the suspect has not been given.
GTD help sought:
Police are looking for an unidentified person for damaging the vehicle of a female Gulf citizen, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily added, according to the woman, her car was parked in the parking lot of a well-known commercial complex and she discovered someone had bumped into the vehicle but no one was around until someone approached her and handed her a piece of paper with the car plate number written on it.
He told the woman someone hit her car and escaped. The woman has sought help of the General Traffic Department to arrest the suspect.
Drug addicts caught:
Two young Kuwaitis have been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control (GDDC) for consuming drugs, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily added a Kuwaiti saw three people fast asleep near the Mubarak Al-Kabeer GDDC building and informed the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior.
