Trice’s big second half sends No. 9 Wisconsin past Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, New Jersey, Jan 16, (AP): D’Mitrik Trice had 13 points and five assists and turned in a strong second half to lead No. 9 Wisconsin past Rutgers 60-54.

Trice scored eight points and assisted on another basket in a 12-0 run that gave Wisconsin a 54-44 lead with 4:19 to go.

The game was a classic Big Ten grinder, with teams locking down defensivel­y. Wisconsin (11-3, 5-2 Big Ten) shot 35% from the field, and Rutgers (7-5, 3-5) shot 37%. The Badgers were 6 of 25 from beyond the arc, and the Scarlet Knights were 2 of 19.

Aleem Ford added 13 points and six rebounds for Wisconsin. Brad Davidson had 14 points and six rebounds.

Nevada 73, Fresno St. 57

In Reno, Nevada, Grant Sherfield had 23 points as Nevada beat Fresno State 73-57.

Desmond Cambridge Jr. had 13 points for Nevada (9-5, 4-3 Mountain West Conference). Warren Washington added 13 points.

Orlando Robinson had 15 points for the Bulldogs (5-4, 3-4). Isaiah Hill added 15 points.

CS Bakersfiel­d 60, Hawaii 55

In Honolulu, Shawn Stith had 13 points as Cal State Bakersfiel­d narrowly beat Hawaii 60-55.

Taze Moore had 10 points and nine rebounds for Cal State Bakersfiel­d (84, 4-1 Big West Conference), which won its fourth consecutiv­e game.

Junior Madut had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Rainbow Warriors (3-2, 1-2). James Jean-Marie added 11 points. Mate Colina had 10 points. Utah Valley 93, Seattle 92, OT

In Seattle, Fardaws Aimaq had 29 points plus 14 rebounds while Trey Woodbury chipped in 20 points and made the game-winning 3-pointer with five seconds left in overtime as Utah Valley edged past Seattle 93-92 in overtime. Jamison Overton added 21 points for the Wolverines.

Aimaq hit 13 of 15 free throws. He added four blocks. Evan Cole had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Utah Valley (5-5, 3-0 Western Athletic Conference).

Seattle totaled 43 points in the first half, a season high for the team.

Darrion Trammell had 26 points, seven rebounds and five steals for the Redhawks (7-6, 0-1). Riley Grigsby added 20 points. Aaron Nettles had 19 points and five steals.

Cal. Baptist 83, Tarleton St. 74 In Riverside, California, Tre Armstrong and Gorjok Gak scored 18 points apiece as California Baptist topped Tarleton State 83-74. Ty Rowell added 17 points for the Lancers.

Armstrong shot 4 for 6 on 3-pointers. He added seven rebounds. Gak also had 17 rebounds and four assists.

Elijah Thomas had 11 points for California Baptist (4-4, 1-2 Western Athletic Conference), which earned its fourth straight home victory.

Shakur Daniel had 13 points and six rebounds for the Texans (2-5, 0-3). Konstantin Dotsenko added 12 points, three rebounds and two assists. Shamir Bogues and Montre Gipson had 11 points each.

Siena 78, Rider 69

In Lawrencevi­lle, New Jersey, Jordan King had a career-high 21 points as Siena got past Rider 78-69.

Manny Camper had 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists for Siena (50, 5-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Jackson Stormo added 10 points. Nick Hopkins had 10 points.

Dwight Murray Jr. scored a careerhigh 25 points for the Broncs (3-9, 3-6). Dontrell McQuarter added 17 points and 12 rebounds. Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson had eight rebounds.

Christian Ings, the Broncs’ second leading scorer heading into the contest at nine points per game, shot only 11% in the game (1 of 9).

N. Dakota St 62, N. Dakota 45

In Grand Folks, North Dakota, Jarius Cook posted 13 points as North Dakota State beat North Dakota 62-45.

Grant Nelson had 13 points and three blocks for North Dakota State (7-6, 7-1 Summit League), which earned its fifth straight victory. Rocky Kreuser added 11 points. Tyree Eady had 10 points.

Sam Griesel, whose 12 points per game coming into the matchup was second on the Bison, shot only 14% in the game (1 of 7).

Filip Rebraca had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Fighting Hawks (3-11, 3-5). Bentiu Panoam added 12 points.

UIC 67, Robert Morris 53

In Chicago, Teyvion Kirk recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds to carry Illinois-Chicago to a 67-53 win over Robert Morris.

Michael Diggins had 16 points for Illinois-Chicago (6-4, 3-2 Horizon League). Jamie Ahale added 12 points. Braelen Bridges had 11 points.

Illinois-Chicago totaled 30 secondhalf points, a season low for the team.

AJ Bramah had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Colonials (3-4, 2-2).

Texas State 63, UALR 59

In Little Rock, Arkansas, Marlin Davis had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead Texas State to a 63-59 win over Arkansas-Little Rock.

Davis also had eight turnovers but only five assists.

Caleb Asberry had 18 points for Texas State (8-4, 2-1 Sun Belt Conference). Mason Harrell added 16 points.

Ruot Monyyong had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Trojans (7-5, 3-2). Nikola Maric added 13 points and eight rebounds. Marko Lukic had 11 points.
