Statement
Al-Hamad, who currently chairs the Financial and Economic Affairs in the National Assembly, believes that economic reform is the responsibility of the Assembly and its committees.
On his goals for the 16th parliamentary term, Al-Hamad clarified that he cannot adopt specific issues and promise to address them as an individual MP.
He stressed the need for political reform, which should start with the formation of parliamentary blocs as an alternative to political parties in order to adopt issues and enforce laws. He said the second stage of political reform is the formation of a government based on competence.
He added the appointment of a prime minister is the sole right of His Highness the Amir and the selection of ministers must be in line with the parliamentary election results.
He pointed out the Constitution states that MPs should constitute the majority in the government, but things are changing because of the low number of MPs occupying ministerial positions.
