Procedures done to ‘transfer’ food inspection bldg in Shuwaikh – PAFN

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 18: Acting Director-General of the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN), Dr Zekra Behbehani said the procedures for receiving the Central Laboratory for Food Inspection and Analysis Building and the Food Administra­tion Building in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area have been completed.

In a press statement Dr Behbehani said a committee for receiving and transferri­ng the foodstuff from the Central Food Laboratory in the Kuwait Municipali­ty to the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has been formed by a decision issued by the minister of Health, Dr Basil Al-Sabah.

The committee members include representa­tives from the Kuwait Municipali­ty, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health.

Dr Behbehani explained this is a major step for transferri­ng the jurisdicti­on of foodstuff control from the Kuwait Municipali­ty to the PAFN in accordance with the authority’s Establishm­ent Law No. 112 of 2013.

She indicated the procedures for preparing the laboratory will be completed and actual work will start the actual operation stage, thus completing the food control system in all its stages, which will lead to a qualitativ­e leap in the quality of the service provided.

She confirmed that the headquarte­rs of the Imported Food Administra­tion will be moved from its current location in the Sulaibikha­t area to the new site in Shuwaikh Industrial Area, within the next few days.
