Court overturns jail, acquits man in drugs case
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 18: The Court of Cassation overturned the verdict issued by a lower court which sentenced to imprisonment a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of possessing drugs, and assaulting and insulting a Coast Guard officer. The court instead acquitted him of all the charges leveled against him.
According to the case file, the Public Prosecution had charged the citizen with narcotic possession with intention to consume, and also of assaulting and insulting a Coast Guard and a police officer while they were performing their official duties.
Representing the defendant was Lawyer Zaid Al-Khabbaz who argued that the prosecution failed to present substantial evidence to back the allegations leveled against his client, adding that the arrest procedures carried out by the police officer were faulty, rendering the arrest of his client illegal.

with a value of one million Kuwaiti dinars and their right to complete the necessary registration and marking procedures, and also disassociation of the defendants, reports Al-Anba daily.
