IES Bhavans mark 15th Annual Day, under the theme ‘Ujjeevanam’
IES Kuwait stalwarts honored at the award ceremony
KUWAIT CITY, March 4: Indian Education School Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kuwait celebrated the 15th Annual Day recently. Everyone in the virtual auditorium went home with a new-found conviction and vision to revive our mother Earth to make it a better place for everyone and everything to live in. It’s our filial duty. ‘We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children’. Yes, if child is the father of the man, it’s our filial obligation.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Jacob Thomas IPS (retd), former Director-General of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Government of Kerala, Ali Judian Al Rashidi, the school Sponsor, N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman Bhavans Middle East, Mrs. Sudha Ramachandran, CA Sooraj Ramachandran, Vice-Chairman Bhavans Middle East, CA Divya Rajesh Ramachandran, Director Bhavans Middle East, Krishnadas Menon, Director Bhavans Kuwait, T. Premkumar, Principal, Indian Education School Kuwait, Ms. Anselma Tessy, Vice-Principal, Senior Section, IES, Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice-Principal, Middle Section, IES, Ms. Lalitha Premkumar, Vice-Principal, Primary and Kindergarten Sections, IES and other distinguished dignitaries graced the virtual event.
The day started with soul-soothing verses from the Holy Quran rendered by Zara Imtiyaz of 9A followed by the Kuwait National anthem. The ceremonial virtual lamp was conjointly lit by the Guests. The day of magnificence was further unfurled with a prayer song, and the Bhavans Anthem rendered by the school choir.
Invocation
Matthew Thomas Paul, the Cultural Secretary, Indian Education School Kuwait, delivered the welcome speech. An invocation dance of classical fusion performed by Lakshmi Nanda Madhusoodanan, Nidhi Murali, Bhavyashree and Tanushree induced a divine spirit in the audience letting them wholeheartedly submerge in the ocean of divinity.
Dr. Thomas IPS was introduced to the audience through a video presentation showcasing his journey from a small-town lad in Kerala to one of the most respected law enforcement officers in India. In his address, he conveyed the Frostian thought of choosing the right path in our life. He advised the students to choose their paths wisely instead of going with the ‘fool multitude that choose by show, not learning more than the fond eye doth teach’. He urged them to unearth their uncut gems of talents, refine and polish them, and take the rough roads to achieve glory. ‘Never measure your progress using someone else’s ruler!’ was his wisdom-wrapped message to everyone in general and students in particular.
The Chief Guest was gifted a sapling and an e-certificate by Menon as a token of love, respect, and gratitude from the Bhavans Family in the Middle East. This sapling is planted in Kerala, India with the name of the Chief Guest tagged with a QR code.
It can be located on the Google Map and its growth can be monitored on the website. The idea of gifting a plant is to spread awareness on the importance of revitalizing Mother Nature around us.
Tejas, the annual school magazine, is the voice and soul of the young Bhavanites where their creativity and imagination transform into words and hues to create marvelous wonderlands. The e-magazine, Tejas 2020, was released by Dr. Thomas along with other dignitaries amid deafening applause.
Determination
CA Divya Rajesh Ramachandran delivered the Director’s Address. The synergy embedded in her inspiring words vibed determination and resolution in the hearts of all the listeners.

The Award Ceremony saw the stalwarts of IES Kuwait being honoured for the incredible results they reaped in the Grade 10 and Grade 12 CBSE Board Examination 2020. Grade 12 position holders: Ujvala Rajmadam Pradeep, Science Stream first place in the Kuwait Chapter and the second rank holder in the Middle East, received 20-gram gold for being the Bhavans Middle East Topper and an endowment prize in the memory of G. Viswanathan. Deepa Dharshini, Science Stream second place in the Kuwait Chapter and the third rank holder in the Middle East, Natasha Martha Fernandes, Science Stream third place, Sharon Maria Domini, Commerce Stream first place, Rebiram Ramesh
Varrier, Commerce Stream second place, Pallavi Veena Rajkumar, Commerce Stream third place, Saniya Manoj Bhargava, Vysakh Vinod Nair, Alisha Roy Edakkarote, English Toppers, Nandhakrishnan Mukundhan, Deepak Rengaraj, Accountancy Toppers, Akshara Adhikesavalu, Alka Suza Kurian, Mukthaa Gopakumar Menon, Raga Kannan and Swathi Krishna Sithara, Informatics Toppers. The virtual avatars of the prodigious students were brought on stage via augmented reality.
Grade 10 position holders: Aparna Sudheer Nair, Vaishnavi Rajesh Pai, Vishnu Balram and Pranav Ashok Kumar, toppers in English, Dhanya Laxmi Bharathi Kumar and Abhay Jitesh Menon, toppers in French, Sricharan Sridhar, topper in Sanskrit, Alicia Rose Sebastian, Matthew Thomas Paul, and Sarah Elizabeth Santosh, toppers in Mathematics (Basic) and Parvathi Sheethal Nambiar, topper in Social Science.
The awards were conferred on to the students par excellence as well as the pedagogues par excellence by Premkumar.
The day of dream ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Theertha Krishna, the Cultural Secretary, IES Kuwait, followed by the Indian National Anthem. The emcees for the day were Ryan John Samuel, Roshini R Nair, Fida Ancy and Gayathri Saju. Thus, another eventful historic day in the life of every Bhavanite ended on a high note, paving way for another exceptional academic year with certainties in the time of uncertainty.
