Kuwaiti-funded village provides housing to 225 Yemeni families
ADEN, April 5, (KUNA): A residential complex in Yemen, funded by Kuwaiti donations, was inaugurated in the Red Sea city of Al-Khokha on Sunday, providing housing for dozens of displaced families.
A total 255 families will benefit from the homes, which will replace tents, protecting the displaced families from the harsh cold weather and rains, as well as providing them with safety and security.
The housing complex, includes a mosque, a school and a water well. The first phase, which is now complete, includes 104 housing units. Each home consists of two rooms, a courtyard and a bathroom.
Speaking to KUNA at the opening ceremony, Al-Hodeida Governor Al-Hasan Taher expressed the gratitude of his people for the initiative, which came about thanks to the donations provided by the Kuwaitbased charity, Al-Rahma International.
“This is further evidence of the noble humanitarian gestures of the State of Kuwait in supporting the Yemeni people,” he said.
Meanwhile, three trucks loaded with 60 tons of dates left Kuwait on Sunday for Yemen through Saudi Arabia to distribute dates on the people of Yemen to mark advent of holy month of Ramadan.
The trucks, carrying 15,000 boxes of dates, are part of Kuwait’s assistance for the Yemeni people which began since outbreak of the conflict in the Arab country, Maha Al-Barjas, Secretary General of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), said in a statement to KUNA.
She said KRCS would continue its assistance with the aim of improving living conditions of the Yemeni people as well as carrying out development and medical projects to alleviate their suffering.
KRCS, said Al-Barjas, supported hospitals, provided food and health aid, as well as providing education for orphans.
