Burgan Bank backs Al-Qallaf
KUWAIT CITY, April 8: Driven by its mission to promote Kuwait’s aspiring athletes, Burgan Bank announced its latest sponsorship of Wheelchair Fencing Titleholder, Tareq Al-Qallaf, for the seventh consecutive year. Maintaining his first place position and positive spirit throughout his tenure as a sportsman and world champion, Tareq Al-Qallafprepares to once againrepresent his country in the 2021 international tournaments. Serving as an exemplary example of willpower and determination, his successes reinforce the belief that conviction in ones self and their abilities will empower both the sports community and the special needs segment.
Despite the exceptional circumstances that the world is going through, Burgan Bank continues to support Al-Qallaf’s passion for the sport and his drive to excel. World Champion, Tareq Al-Qallafwill kick off his global tour in several states preceded by training camps in each starting with Pennsylvania in April, followed by the Philadelphia Championship in July and the Ohio Championship in October. Finally, he will be participating in the second ‘Kuwait Challenge’ in November 2021, in compliance with the health and safety standards and regulations.

As a proud contender in global arenas, Al-Qallaf has participated in many international competitions during his sports career. Over the years, he won the ‘Sword of Honor’ as the best performing global player and more than 8 world cups as best player in the world. Al-Qallaf has raised the bar on athletic performance having won a total of 395 gold, silver and bronze medals including more than 15 Royal Sword honors.
Furthermore, with the continued help of the bank, Al-Qallafset a new standard in the sport of sabre fencing by bringing the popular sport to Kuwait for the first time wherein heplayed against US wheelchair fencing champion, “Rick Swauger”.
