Decision

Meanwhile, Dr. Nasser Al-Otaibi, Treasurer of the National Union of Kuwaiti Students (NUKS) - Egypt, says the Cabinet’s recent decision regarding the commitment of airlines to board only 35 passengers obstructs the movement of Kuwaiti students in the Arab Republic of Egypt, especially since there is no direct flight to return to Kuwait, reports Aljarida daily.

In a press statement, Dr. Al-Otaibi indicated that there are many students who wish to return to Kuwait, but the Cabinet’s recent decisions have brought about an unknown fate for them.

He said he wished the Cabinet would reconsider the decision and open a direct line between Egypt and Kuwait, because the least transit time for the students during their return to Kuwait is three hours.

Dr. Al-Otaibi explained that the decision to restrict the number of passengers in each flight to 35 has raised the price of flight tickets to up to KD 300 for a single ticket. The matter did not stop there, as the students are obliged to download the “Kuwait Traveler” (Mosafer) app, through which each student has to pay fees of KD 60 for boarding the plane in addition to the price of the flight ticket. This doubles the financial burdens of students along with their academic obligations.

He wished the political leadership would pay attention to the students’ benefit, appealing to the Cabinet to exclude students from this decision, and to allow them to return on a large scale without restrictions.
