KUWAIT CITY, April 8, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi on Wednesday urged greater investment in youths of the Arabian Gulf nations.

In a virtual meeting of GCC youth and sports ministers, Al-Mutairi called for holding youth activities to harness their skills and innovation.

He also underlined the importance of enhancing the GCC joint action in developing and empowering youths through holding diverse events oriented for youths.

He noted that such events benefit youths and help them gain needed skills.

The minister said that Kuwait has adopted a policy that depends on listening to youths and their views, and providing with opportunities to express themselves and contribute to the state building.

He pointed out Kuwait’s national strategy on voluntary action has been set.

The meeting gathered all GCC youth and sports ministers, and GCC Secretary General Nayef Al-Hajraf.

Meanwhile, the Gulf Cooperation Council Joint Program Production Institution’s (GCCJPPI) goal is to produce positive content for audiences in the Gulf region especially during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, said an official Thursday.

In a press release after meeting with GCC Ambassadors to the State of Kuwait, GCCJPPI’s media advisor Fakhri

Al-Tamimi stressed that it was important to come up with positive media content for Gulf audiences to elevate society and promote harmony among its members.

Due to the challenges facing society as a result of school closures and the imposing of social distancing measures, it is paramount to produce content geared toward bolstering education and help society overcome the current predicament, he noted.

Al-Tamimi pointed out that while the GCCJPPI maintained its roots in

Gulf heritage and tradition, it continued to seek means to upgrade and develop its programs.

The discoloration of water and seabed in West Doha waters is caused by the scarcity of dissolved oxygen and weak current movement, said the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Thursday.

A statement by the authority indicated that EPA teams were dispatched to the West Doha area in response to a water pollution distress call from residences.
