2,837 Kuwaiti engineers on CSC list have no jobs

‘Mentally ill cannot drive’

KUWAIT CITY, April 10: The Secretary of the Society of Engineers, Fahd Al-Otaibi said in a press statement that it is unacceptable to see 2,837 male and female engineers who had registered with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) three years ago are still jobless, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The unemployed engineers as of April 2, comprises 922 mechanical engineering, 764 who have completed industrial engineering, 462 electrical engineering, 240 chemical and 207 petroleum engineering; 115 civil engineering, 72 computer engineering, 42 communications and electronics engineering, and 13 environmental engineering.

Al-Otaibi has called on officials in the CSC, ministries and public and private institutions to cooperate, and open direct communication channels to attract these engineers.

He pointed out the long waiting list to hire these engineers is ridiculous at a time when companies suffer from a lack of technical engineering manpower and this confirms there is a defect in communication mechanism between the ministries and the CSC.

‘Cannot drive’: The Ministry of Interior is seriously considering the possibility of asking the Psychiatric Hospital Administration — through the Ministry of Health — to provide the list of expatriate psychiatric patients in order to check if anyone among them is holding a driver’s license, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources from the security sector.

This came after the daily published a report about the health minister’s response to a parliamentary query, stating that the Psychiatric Hospital opened files for more than 36,000 expatriates from 1953 to 2020.

Speaking to the daily, sources explained the Interior Ministry will use the list as reference for withdrawing the driver’s license if proven that the holder cannot drive due to his mental condition as per the recommendation of his doctor.

Sources said the files of expatriates at the hospital and their number have become a cause of concern for security entities, which will study the information they received and issue strict instructions to deal with such sensitive files.

Sources affirmed the Ministry of Interior keeps a record of citizens and expatriates involved in drug abuse cases and those who have been placed under psychiatric care. Sources said these people are under security control, especially since the condition of some of them will get worse if they do not complete the treatment.

‘Immoral images’: Former MP Muhammad Hayef says, “The undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior has assured that those responsible for the images that were recently circulated via WhatsApp as well those those in charge of registering the group “Combining two heads with halal” have been arrested, including people of different nationalities”, reports Al-Rai daily.

The former MP affirmed that the undersecretary informed him, “The people in charge of the group have been referred to the prosecution.

He added, “The images circulated in the group showed young men and women in disgraceful appearance not befitting the morals and customs of the Kuwaiti society”.

‘Stick to health rules’: The Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer, retired Major-General Mahmoud Bushehri, toured a number of security points to ensure everyone in the governorate adheres to the health regulations issued by the government and particularly the Ministry of Health, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

During the tour the Governor was briefed about the mechanism in force and the procedures followed by the security check points to implement the partial curfew decision and how to deal with emergency situations.

The governor emphasized great efforts are being exerted by the security men affiliated to the public security, rescue and traffic sector in implementing the decisions of the Council of Ministers and the health authorities.

He praised the vital role of the security men who work 24/7 so that the citizens and residents can live in comfort.
