‘Ties extend 50 years’
KUWAIT CITY, April 10: The Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Li Minggang said Kuwait is an important Gulf Cooperation Council country and a vital partner for China in the area of cooperation in the region, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Minggang said, 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Kuwait, and added, the two countries’ relations in the past five decades have been developing in a sound and stable manner. The two countries have continued to exchange understanding and support on issues related to each other’s core interests and major concerns.
He added Kuwait is the first country in the region to sign cooperation documents with China within the framework of ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ — Belt and Road Initiative or BRI is a global infrastructure development strategy adopted by the Chinese government in 2013 to invest in nearly 70 countries and international organizations.
He touched on the cooperation between the two countries which has achieved fruitful results in the fields of energy, trade, infrastructure and culture.
He stressed that the Chinese side always cares about relations with Kuwait and develops them based on long-term strategic considerations, and is preparing to work with the Kuwaiti side to make joint efforts to translate the consensus of the two countries’ leaders on the ground in its best form, and to continue to consolidate mutual strategic trust, deepen cooperation to combat the pandemic, and push for joint construction for BRI with high quality, in a way that strengthens the strategic partnership relations between the two countries, and enhances peace and security in the Middle East for further development and prosperity.
He pointed out this important diplomatic move by the Chinese side in the region reflects the great interest that China attaches to the countries of the Middle East, and its steadfast determination to develop relations.
He went on to say, China is a reliable and permanent strategic partner for the countries of the Middle East, and sent a clear message that China and the countries of the Middle East are working side by side to establish a closer community for their common future to exchange steadfast support for the core interests.
The imposition of ideology on others must be forcibly boycotted, and interference in the internal affairs of other countries must be opposed which happens under the pretext of human rights, and arbitrary accusations and distortions.
