KUWAIT CITY, April 13: The Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Administrative Development Affairs at the Ministry of Social Affairs Abdulaziz Sari revealed that the ministry, based on instructions of the Ministry of Finance, is currently working on counting all its buildings and land plots it holds and the real estate values, in preparation for providing the Ministry of Finance with necessary information before the date of the final account scheduled for mid-June, reports Aljarida daily.

He explained that the total number of buildings affiliated to the ministry is 160, which are distributed in various parts of the country. There are also 51 plots of land allocated for future construction projects.

In coordination with the Kuwait

Municipality, work is underway to separate the currently-utilized buildings from the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), which was previously affiliated with the ministry. The total of these buildings is 19, which are distributed in all governorates.

Sari said, “The aim of completing the process of separating the buildings under PAM from the subordination of the ministry is to transfer the ownership in order to be fully responsible for them before all government agencies, especially after the issuance of the Cabinet’s decision to detach PAM from the Ministry of Social Affairs.”

Meanwhile, informed sources from Ministry of Social Affairs revealed that the Citizen Service Department in the ministry has started receiving requests for those seeking information related to the ministry, in implementation of the provisions of Law No. 12/2020 issued in this regard and its executive regulations, and the administrative decision issued by the undersecretary of the ministry in accordance with the conditions and controls contained in the law.

They explained that the concerned department has prepared forms for requests for the right of access. It has received a simple set of requests since the issuance of the decision that organizes the issue.

Not all information and data are available to those who want to see, especially since some of them are nonnegotiable and are classified as confidential and protected as per the aforementioned law.
