Arab participation in contests enhances ‘skills for research’
Al-Saad Foundation launches competition for 2020/21 TGS hosts Mohammed Ben Bader
KUWAIT CITY, April 13: President of the Sheikha Fadia Al-Saad Al-Sabah Scientific Competition, Sheikha Nabila Salman AlHamoud, said the increase in Arab participation in the competition enhances skills for scientific research and teamwork and stimulates the mechanism of development to achieve sustainable development.
This came in a press release issued by the Al-Saad Foundation for Knowledge and Scientific Research immediately after the announcement of the launch of the competition for its season 21 (2020-2021).
Sheikha Nabila said the competition was launched at the level of Arab countries for secondary and intermediate school students and at the local level for students of the three stages (secondary, intermediate and primary).
The aim, she said, is to develop a sense of national loyalty and scientific and practical development for girls by supporting projects and innovations that will build and serve the society.
The president of the competition welcomed the participants from various Arab countries this season out of her belief in the goals and benefits of this competition that supports female students and stimulates their talents and seeks to achieve further progress in the field of scientific research.
Sheikha Nabila revealed the competition guide for the secondary stage, which contains a scientific project to solve a problem according to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) approach.
The importance of the competition is to provide students with a scientific basis in preparing projects based on the STEM approach in the fields of science and technology that are interpreted through engineering and the arts transferring them through reading and writing, all of which are based on the field of mathematics through pioneering scientific innovations, and help students to enhance literary and aesthetic development as well as improve mathematics competencies and understanding, contemplate science concepts and facts, and renew critical response logic skills.
Regarding the objectives of the competition at all levels, Sheikha Nabila affirmed that the competition contributes to preparing a generation of talented and outstanding students in the fields of science and works to refine the talents of students in the scientific and technical field and team work and also helps to develop the student’s scientific imagination.
