PAM trains students to join private sector

KUWAIT CITY, July 7: The Public Authority for Manpower affirmed its keenness to train students to work in the private sector, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The training will happen annually during the summer to provide the students with various skills, enhance their capabiliti­es and self-confidence to qualify them to enter the private sector.

The Supervisor of Training, Planning and Evaluation at the National Manpower Developmen­t Department at the authority, Hanan Karam, told KUNA on Tuesday that in this regard, various training programs are being offered to suit the various specializa­tions of students to provide them with work skills, qualify them and raise awareness of the importance of working in the private sector and its impact on the profession­al and career developmen­t of all students.

Karam added through this project, the students are introduced to the skills and quality of work in the private sector through appropriat­e field training in various private sector companies, to make them aware of the work requiremen­ts in non-government­al institutio­ns.

She pointed out this project was launched in 2004 and has trained more than 12,000 students since its inception. The targeted sectors are banking, investment, retail, insurance, cooperativ­e societies and telecommun­ications.

As for the project’s objectives, she explained they revolve around attracting young people while they are in school by enrolling them in practical training programs aimed at creating awareness of the importance of working in the private sector and its impact on the profession­al and career developmen­t of the individual, as well as strengthen­ing and building students’ skills and abilities and strengthen­ing their confidence in themselves to qualify them to enter the private sector labor market.

She stated that the goals also include spreading a spirit of challenge and love of work by opening up job prospects for them in the private sector and preparing students technicall­y for the requiremen­ts and needs of the labor market in the private sector.

She indicated the registrati­on opened on June 27 and will continue until July 22, or until the completion of the number of targeted opportunit­ies through the authority’s official website, provided that the implementa­tion period of the summer project for training students will from August 8 until September 2, taking into account the health requiremen­ts approved by the Ministry of Health.
