Livestock Transport & Trading Company requests for land to establish farm for imported livestock

‘We are forced to rent, establish unlicensed shelters’

KUWAIT CITY, July 18: Livestock Transport and Trading Company (LTTC) has requested for land to establish a farm for imported livestock, reports AlQabas daily.

The State Ministry for Municipality Affairs referred a letter from Head of the Office of HH the Prime Minister Abdulaziz Al-Dakhil to the director general of Kuwait Municipality about the company’s request.

In its request, the company pointed out that it has been suffering for quite some time now due to the lack of space for imported livestock.

“We have no shelter big enough to keep the livestock we are importing.

We are forced to rent and establish unlicensed and unsuitable shelters for these livestock in the desert, which resulted in the deterioration of livestock’s health during summer,” the company explained.

According to the company, the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) had earlier asked the Municipality to allocate land and the latter requested for a plan for the proposed land.

“We made the required plan and presented it to the Municipality. We obtained initial approval, considering that the PAAAFR approved the plan.

“However, we were surprised by a stumbling block in the approval of the plan. They informed us that some requests similar to ours were required by the authority to attach an area chart,” the company revealed.

The company stressed the need to establish the farm as soon as possible to meet the needs of the local market and secure the strategic stock to be able to face a potential meat crisis, especially during summer.
