Material loss in basement fire
The firefighting teams controlled a fire that broke out at dawn Sunday in the basement of the Qurain Market, and no injuries were reported, reports Al-Rai daily.
The Directorate General of Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Directorate-General of Fire Department said after receiving a report, fire engines from Al-Qurain and Salmiya accompanied by search and rescue centers rushed to the site of the fire and controlled the fire.
The basement contained wood and large quantities of highly flammable liquids which were destroyed by the fire. Investigation teams have started work to find out the causes of the accident.
KUWAIT CITY, July 18: Securitymen have arrested a Bangladeshi driver and referred him to the Public Prosecution for allegedly stabbing his female sponsor in the South Surrah area three months ago, reports Al-Rai daily.
A security source told the daily the suspect was arrested by security police on suspicion and after checking his data, they discovered the man was wanted by law in the stabbing case.
Police records showed a complaint had been filed against him by his sponsor accusing him of attempting to murder him.
The case against the man was filed last April. The victim was allegedly stabbed on various parts of her body and she was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Deportation on cards:
The Ministry of Health is currently coordinating with its Interior counterpart in finding quick solutions, including deportation, for long-stay expatriate patients in public hospitals who have been discharged as their treatment has been completed but did not leave the hospitals for various reasons, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.
Sources said the ministry is gathering information about these patients -- their names, medical conditions, discharge date and fees. Sources revealed the ministry will send these details to its interior counterpart to start procedures for these patients to leave the country.
Sources pointed out this will reduce pressure on the health system that has been dealing with the corona pandemic for one year and a half now, as a significant number of beds will be allotted for other patients who are suffering from chronic diseases or the critical corona patients.
Kuwaiti held with drugs:
An unidentified 34-year-old Kuwaiti who was caught in possession of drugs has been handed over to the General Department for Drugs Control (GDDC), reports Al-Anba daily.
A security source said the arrest came when police rushed to handle a traffic accident in Hawalli. During the search of one of the vehicles, police found narcotic substances (heroin, shabu, and pills) as well as drug paraphernalia.
29,615 citations issued:
The General Traffic Department (GTD) said during the past week from July 10 to July 16, the traffic police have issued 29,615 miscellaneous citations, reports Al-Anba daily.
The GTD sources said four motorcycles have been impounded and towed to the Interior Ministry garage, in addition to nine vehicles.
