Kuwait’s ‘unique, constructive’ role on regional, int’l issues wins praise
Chinese FM meets with his Kuwaiti counterpart Bank continues efforts to support Be Aware ‘Diraya’ campaign
BEIJING, July 19, (KUNA): Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi praised the “unique and constructive” role played by the State of Kuwait on regional and international issues, stressing his country’s readiness to work with Kuwait to promote the continuous development of bilateral relations.
This came during a meeting between Minister Yi and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed AlSabah in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent last Friday, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Minister Yi said that Kuwait was the first Gulf Arab country to establish diplomatic relations with China, adding that the two countries had established an “unbreakable friendship” during the course of relations that spanned fifty years.

He stressed China’s support for Kuwait in safeguarding its sovereignty, security and stability, and its willingness to work with it to promote the continuous development of bilateral relations.
The Chinese minister affirmed his country’s continued support for Kuwait in its efforts to combat COVID-19, expressing China’s readiness to strengthen cooperation between the “Belt and Road Initiative” and New Kuwait Vision 2035. He also indicated his country’s readiness to build a strategic partnership for a complete industrial chain in the field of energy with Kuwait and open new areas of cooperation on an ongoing basis in information technology, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity .
The Chinese foreign minister expressed his hope to work with Kuwait to resume the ChinaGCC FTA talks as soon as possible and promote the ChinaArab Cooperation Forum with more achievements.
Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammad AlSabah met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi last Friday on the sidelines of his participation in the International Conference (Central and South Asia), which was held in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent on July 15-16.
