Nurseries not covered by decision to close summer establishments for kids
KUWAIT CITY, July 19: Nurseries are not covered by the decision to close summer establishments for children effective July 25, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The nursery owners told the daily that they inquired about the mechanism for implementing the decision from the relevant authorities, as it was found that they are not covered by the closure decision, especially since they hold childcare licenses from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Societal Development; while other private facilities offering children’s activities have licenses from the Ministry of Commerce.
They added that the decision on the reopening of nurseries took effect on the first of June after the approval of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Affairs and Corona Emergency Committee, which decided that the resumption of their operations would be in three stages.
The stage of opening nurseries for child rehabilitation programs began last month.
A representative of the Nursery Owners
Association Fayez Al-Shammari said: “The nurseries operate according to the booklet of health regulations that I received from the Ministry of Social Affairs in coordination with the Ministry of Health. It contains more than 20 pages.”
Al-Shammari confirmed: “The nurseries are committed to implementing all the regulations and nursery officials inspect their facilities regularly to ensure that regulations are implemented in order to protect public safety and the health of children.”
He said more than 2,000 workers in nurseries have been vaccinated against Covid-19, indicating the Ministry of Social Affairs is currently completing the vaccination of workers in nurseries in coordination with the Ministry of Health through the vaccination center in Mishref.
He stated that nurseries are keen on not receiving unvaccinated parents who accompany their children, in addition to the continuous examination of the two-year-old children and other requirements.
