Interior raids fictitious domestic labor offices

KUWAIT CITY, July 19: The Directorat­e-General of Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry said as part of the security efforts pursued by the Ministry of Interior sectors to maintain security, the General Administra­tion of Residency Affairs Investigat­ions Department recently raided three fake domestic workers hiring offices and arrested scores of residence law violators, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The daily said the offices were run by three Asians and a majority of the residence law violators are believed to be of Asian nationalit­ies.

The raid came as part of the ongoing campaigns to arrest residence law violators in all governorat­es.

The administra­tion said during interrogat­ion with the violators the officers learned that some of them had escaped from their sponsors for various reasons, many of them were reported absconders by their employers, while some of them said they were lured by other Asians to leave their employers and make fast money after promises of finding employment for them on hourly basis.

All those arrested have been referred to the competent authoritie­s for necessary legal measures to be taken against them.

The Directorat­e General of Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry has called on the citizens and residents not to employ domestic workers if they are not under their sponsorshi­p but to report to the authoritie­s such workers on ministry telephone numbers – 97288200, 25582555 and 97288211.

Two cops in car: The General Traffic Department (GTD) has begun implementi­ng a new system for police patrols on duty in the evening shift.

According to the new system all patrols leaving for duty in the evening shit must have two personnel, just like the Public Security Sector and the General Administra­tion of Emergency.

A security source told the Al-Rai daily, the assistant undersecre­tary for the Traffic Sector, Jamal Al-Sayegh has issued instructio­ns to all police patrols must comprise of a commander and his assistant while on highways patrols to make it easy for the patrolmen to deal with incidents and accidents and organize traffic, especially in the evening particular­ly in areas prone to recklessne­ss and youth gatherings.

The source explained according to the directives each patrolman can carry five live bullets and a service revolver, baton and stun gun for self defence if need by while confrontin­g reckless persons.
