Plan to produce sports heroes

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17: A conference on ways to develop sports and achieve sports professionalism will be held on Oct 18-19, 2021 at the National Assembly Theater under the sponsorship of Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim.

According to MP Abdullah AlTuraiji, the conference will focus on the following: strategy of the Public Authority for Sport, the Kuwait Olympic Committee, development of sports clubs and associations, and sports media. He explained the conference is aimed at determining factors leading to the poor sports performance and finding solutions to the problem.

He confirmed the participation of several concerned senior officials in the conference; including Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Badah Al-Mutairi, Chairman of Public Authority for Sport Dr Homoud Flaitah, Deputy Chairman of the authority and consultant at the State Ministry for Youth Affairs Mahmoud Abul, Chairman of Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahd Nasser Al-Sabah, Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Olympic Committee Ali Al-Merri, Chairperson of Women Committee at Kuwait Olympic Committee Fatima Hayat, chairpersons of various sport clubs, and media personalities.

In another development, MP Homoud Al- Azmi submitted a proposal to suspend the undersecretary of a ministry in case a grilling motion is filed against the minister until the motion is settled. The proposal states that an assistant undersecretary shall replace the suspended undersecretary from the date of filing the grilling motion until a decision in this regard is issued.

Al-Azmi believes the undersecretary is responsible for the issues stated in the grilling motion.
