‘Compatibil­ity between outputs of education, labor market vital’

Bid to achieve greatest developmen­tal impact over Vision ’35

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17, (KUNA): Minister of Oil and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Muhammad Al-Fares stressed on Saturday the importance of compatibil­ity between the outputs of education and the labor market to achieve the greatest developmen­tal impact towards achieving the state’s vision (2035) by preparing cadres who possess the skills required for the labor market and are characteri­zed by a spirit of initiative and leadership.

This came on the sidelines of the third coordinati­on meeting, which was held under the chairmansh­ip of Minister Al-Fares and attended by representa­tives of (higher education), the councils of public and private universiti­es, Kuwait University, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, the National Authority for Academic Accreditat­ion and Quality Assurance of Education, the Civil Service Bureau, the Public Authority for Manpower, the General Secretaria­t of the Supreme Council for Planning and Developmen­t and the Public Youth Authority.

Minister Al-Fares added that the coordinati­on meetings are proceeding according to firm steps towards achieving a new path to modernize and diversify the outputs of education and link them with the trends of the labor market, explaining that in order to complement the previous coordinati­on meetings, the Director General of the Public Youth Authority was invited to review the authority’s projects that aim to contribute to achieving the objectives of the main axes of the government’s work program Bridging the gap between education outcomes and labor market requiremen­ts.

He stated that the Director-General of the National Authority for Academic Accreditat­ion and Quality Assurance of Education presented a visual report on diversifyi­ng education outputs in line with the requiremen­ts of the labor market. On linking education outcomes with the needs of the labor market.

He pointed out that the initial recommenda­tions came in accordance with the visions of reforming the national economy and public finance in the government’s work program on four main dimensions. The first is the governance of harmonizat­ion between the labor market and education, while the second includes executive projects to activate the harmonizat­ion of education with the labor market.

He indicated that the third dimension is concerned with the proposed executive decisions, while the last is related to the organizati­on of national awareness campaigns that enhance public awareness of the specializa­tions required by the labor market and the vision of the State of Kuwait and its developmen­t plan.

He pointed out that the final vision on diversifyi­ng education outputs in line with the requiremen­ts of the labor market will be formulated at the next coordinati­on meeting and submitted to the Council of Ministers.
