25 complex laparoscopic surgeries performed to remove fibroids, polyps

-

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17: The Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at the Farwaniya Hospital said 25 complex surgeries were performed to remove uterine fibroids and polyps by laparoscopy in the hospital during the ‘Complex Hysteroscopy’ workshop, with the participation of the Assistant Professor at the Lebanese American University, a specialist in laparoscopic and complex hysteroscopy, Dr Zaki Suleiman, reports AlJarida daily.

Dr Suleiman said in a press statement that endoscopic operations are a type of operation in which you do not need to make a large surgical incision, and the recovery is quick, because when “we make a large surgical incision, the patient’s recovery period is much longer, and it may need a week or two for the patient to return to normal routine.

He added that the main advantage of laparoscopic surgeries is that it relies on making small holes through which the doctor can perform various types of major and difficult operations, and the next day the patient ‘walks home’, and within days forgets entirely about the operation.

Dr Suleiman explained this type of surgery is not easy, and requires precise skills, specialized surgical tools and special operating rooms, and certainly this type of operation is easy to do in hospitals such as Farwaniya, because there are tools that we need -- places and equipment to perform this type of operation.

He pointed out that this is his fifth workshop at the Farwaniya Hospital, and that he, with the participation of the specialized medical team, performed between 15 and 20 major surgeries during each workshop, and the results are always satisfactory for all doctors and patients.
