Awqaf inaugurates final qualifiers for Quran Memorization and Recitation
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19, (KUNA): The General Secretariat of Awqaf inaugurated recently the final qualifiers for the 24th Kuwait Grand Competition for Quran Memorization and Recitation under the slogan (Reassure) under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, which will last for two weeks.
The Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Issa Al-Kandari, said in a speech during the opening ceremony delivered on his behalf by the Acting Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of Endowments, Mansour Al-Saqabi, that the slogan of the competition (Reassure) was inspired by the secretariat in light of the current conditions that the country and the whole world are going through as a result of the corona pandemic and from Quranic connotations.
Al-Kandari stated that “the General Secretariat
of Awqaf, since its establishment until this day, has been based on the care of the Holy Book, the keepers of its Holy Book, and the supreme sponsor of the competition “throughout the history of the competition.”
He pointed out that the number of participants in the final qualifiers for this year reached 1,939, the number of males, 860 and 1,079 females, qualified through 42 official and private bodies that seek to serve the Book of God Almighty, disseminate its memorization, refining and care for its memorizers.
He explained that they are all competing in the various categories of the competition, which includes the general competition, the youth competition, the glory competition, people with special needs, the elderly, correctional institutions, and inmates of care homes, in addition to the reading competition.
