Colts release Eason, put Campbell on IR

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct 20, (AP): The Indianapolis Colts made a change in their quarterback pecking order, waiving Jacob Eason after activating rookie Sam Ehlinger from injured reserve.

Indy also placed receiver Parris Campbell on injured reserve two days after he hurt his foot on a 51-yard touchdown reception against Houston.

Eason, a fourth-round draft pick in 2020 out of Washington, took the most snaps in training camp while Carson Wentz was out of action and served as Indy’s top backup to Wentz for the first two games. But after replacing the injured Wentz against the Los Angeles Rams, Eason threw an interception.

The New York Giants have placed starting left tackle Andrew Thomas on injured reserve along with wide receiver/ kickoff returner C.J. Board.

The Giants made the moves after both were hurt on Sunday in a loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Thomas, the fourth pick overall in 2020, has foot and ankle problems. He missed a game against Dallas the previous week because of a foot injury and sprained an ankle in the 38-11 loss Sunday.

Board broke his arm on a kickoff return.

The Patriots promoted defensive back Myles Bryant from the practice squad to the 53-man roster and placed linebacker Chase Winovich on injured reserve.

Winovich left in the third quarter of Sunday’s 35-29 loss to the Cowboys with a hamstring injury. He has appeared in six games this season, getting seven tackles.

Bryant makes his third trip to the active roster of the season and adds depth to the secondary after the defense gave up a season-high 445 passing yards to Dallas.

Dallas Cowboys safety Damontae Kazee was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in a Dallas suburb, police said.

The Colony police Sgt. Aaron Woodard said Kazee was booked on a Class B misdemeanor. Kazee was released around midday after posting $2,500 bond, Woodard said.

Kazee was pulled over in the suburb next to Frisco, the location of team headquarters about 30 miles north of Dallas. Kazee is in his first season with the Cowboys after signing as a free agent.

The Baltimore Ravens put tackle Ronnie Stanley on injured reserve.

Stanley spent the latter half of last season on IR as well because of an ankle injury, and he’s played only in the season opener this year.

“At this point in time, my ankle isn’t where it should be,” Stanley said in a statement. “This is the best decision not only for my health, but also for the team long term. I look forward to supporting my team from the sideline this season and coming back fully healthy in 2022.”
