Need to update industrial strategy in GCC to face any emergency: PAI
Kuwait’s Taqi participates in trade ministers consultative meet
MANAMA, Oct 21, (KUNA): Director-General of the Kuwait’s Public Authority for Industry (PAI) Abdul Karim Taqi stressed, Wednesday, the need to update the industrial strategy in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to face any emergency.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of participating in the consultative meeting between the ministers of trade and industry in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in Bahrain, “We have started by approving the modernization of an industrial strategy to include the most important sectors targeted in the next phase, which will achieve Gulf security to face any upcoming economic or health conditions,” Taqi told KUNA.

He added that the meeting dealt with the impact of the (Corona emerging - Covid 19) pandemic on the industrial situation in the GCC system.
He pointed to the importance of discussing the mechanism for implementing the decisions of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which are issued by the ministers of trade and industry in the GCC countries, and how to avoid any delay in implementing the decisions taken and General Secretariat of the Council.
He noted the issuance of some decisions regulating joint Gulf action in the industrial sector, including the integration of industries and the creation of an integrated system for the establishment of joint factories among the Gulf states.
He stated that there will be a meeting soon for the industry agents in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to follow up on the implementation of decisions, the most important of which is the Gulf industrial strategy.
