Ashour was once quoted as saying, “The concept of freedom of speech is vast, so there must be a clear difference between this freedom and offending others. In Kuwait, a citizen who talks about any issue concerning another Arab or Gulf country is arrested immediately, so how much more if a citizen criticizes another country? Kuwait used to be a safe haven for any Arab citizen who suffers difficulties in his country due to his opinions. Kuwait is no longer the same as before.”
