Kuwaiti academic receives international award in Petroleum Production and Operations Engineering
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 12, (KUNA): Kuwait University announced that Prof. Dr. Eissa Al-Safran received the International Prize in Petroleum Production and Operations Engineering from the International Society of Petroleum Engineers in the United States of America, through his contributions to developing mathematical and numerical models and providing practical .solutions in petroleum production.
The university said in a press statement on Tuesday, that Dr. Al-Safran from the Petroleum Engineering Department at the university has conducted many studies and scientific research, in addition to his contribution to providing solutions to improve oil and natural gas production and increase the efficiency of oil wells and reservoirs.
It stated that Al-Safran was selected from among a number of other candidates by the Society’s Awards Committee, which includes American oil experts, noting that his name was permanently included on the Society’s website in recognition of his scientific achievement.
For his part, Al-Safran expressed, according to the statement, his thanks and appreciation to Kuwait University, represented by its departments and the administration of the College of Engineering and Petroleum, for their continuous encouragement and support.
Al-Safran heads the Petroleum Production Research Group and Center in the Petroleum Engineering Department at Kuwait University and a joint cooperation program with the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, New Mexico Tech University and Massachusetts Technology University, in addition to supervising many doctoral and master’s students in these universities.
Al-Safran also published a book on petroleum production engineering taught in a number of American universities, in addition to publishing more than 100 scientific papers in international conferences and international refereed journals.
