‘Cooperation needed to tackle global risks’
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 27, (KUNA): National Guard Undersecretary Lieutenant-General Hashem Al-Rifai said that the risks facing the world and the security challenges resulting from globalization and the transformation in the structure of the global system require cooperation, solidarity and unifying concepts to confront them, as they represent a real threat to all countries.
This came in a press statement by the National Guard on Thursday, following the participation of Lieutenant-General Al-Rifai in the meeting of the International Association of Gendarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status (FIEP), which is being held in the Republic of Portugal under the slogan ‘Security and Threats from Globalization 4.0.’
In his speech in the first session of the meeting, Lieutenant General Al-Rifai conveyed the greetings of the political leadership in the country represented by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, recalling its great support for the National Guard in its quest to join the Union as the first military and security authority in Kuwait.
He stated that the National Guard will host the Manpower Conference of Member States (FIEP) in November next year, pointing to the role of the Kuwaiti National Guard in confronting the COVID-19 virus and providing support and backing to all state agencies since the beginning of the pandemic.
He stated that the second session of the meeting reviewed ways to enhance joint cooperation between member states and exchange experiences in using modern electronic systems in training.
The meeting witnessed the handing over of the presidency of the Union from the Portuguese Republican National Guard to the Spanish Civil Guard and the signing and ratification of the joint declaration that includes plans, minutes and agenda for the next year, in addition to adopting the axes of the previous year’s meeting.
