Two more clinics to open soon
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: The Ministry of Health will soon open the Sharq and Granada health centers to reduce pressure on public hospitals near these areas, as part of its ongoing efforts to develop health care and services for the public, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources from the health sector.
Sources told the daily that the ministry is currently working on the inauguration of more specialized clinics in primary health care centers with the aim of reducing the work load in public hospitals near the residential areas; especially the emergency departments, which witness crowding of patients from time to time, some of whom suffer from diseases that can be easily treated in the health center near or in their respective residential areas.
Sources disclosed the ministry’s plans include opening a health center in Sharq as an alternative for Dasman Health Center, which has limited space and experiences power outage frequently. Sources said the donation of Amna Al-Shalfan will be used for the establishment of the new center, indicating the ministry is currently looking for a suitable location near the centers and commercial complexes in the Capital Governorate. Sources affirmed this health center will reduce pressure on Amiri Hospital; considering it will consist of specialized clinics to provide medical services to those residing in Sharq, Dasman, Qibla and Mirqab. Sources pointed out the number of people in these areas necessitate the establishment of the center, instead of referring patients to other hospitals.
Sources cited the measure that the ministry took some years ago, when it established emergency departments in primary health care centers; thereby, reducing the number of patients in nearby hospitals. Sources added that the services in these departments are evaluated from time to time; in addition to following the systems implemented in ambulances and emergency departments during the transportation of the injured and the sick from various locations.
