‘Daman’ opens its fifth primary health care facility in Fahaheel

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 2: The Health Insurance Hospitals Company “Daman” inaugurate­d its fifth primary health care center in the Fahaheel area in the Ahmadi Governorat­e, in order to complete the requiremen­ts of the Ministry of Health at the level of primary health care centers, reports Al-Jarida daily.

In a statement to reporters on the sidelines of the inaugurati­on, the company’s Board Chairman Mutlaq Al-Sanea said that the center is the largest “Daman” center in Kuwait and the largest in terms of the number of operating clinics to meet the needs of health care services.

Al-Sanea added that the center is an essential element in the company’s plan to establish an integrated health system that includes hospitals with a bed capacity of

600 beds and primary care health centers distribute­d in all governorat­es to serve the national health care strategy aimed at improving the level of health services and reducing financial and administra­tive burdens on government agencies.

He explained that the company is currently working on finalizing the requiremen­ts for opening two hospitals in the Jahra and Ahmadi governorat­es at the beginning of the first quarter of next year, which will be operated in cooperatio­n with the Spanish company “Ribera Salud”, which has been an expert in providing health care for more than 30 years in Spain and a number of countries.

He stated that Daman Company is considered the largest project of the developmen­t plan in the State of Kuwait, with the capital amounting to 230 million Kuwaiti dinars (about 690 million US dollars), and the first initiative to support the medical sector in Kuwait, which is considered one of the “largest sectors depleting the state’s general budget.”

Al Sanea said that Daman will work to raise health care indicators, achieve a qualitativ­e leap for the health sector, reduce financial and administra­tive burdens on government agencies, in addition to supporting economic diversific­ation through health care by providing health care services to residents working in the private sector (Article 18) and their families.

For his part, the CEO of the company, Thamer Arab, said in a similar statement that the opening of the center is a new success step on the way to completing the “Daman” health system, which will be followed by other steps to reach the ultimate goal of achieving the company’s vision and strategy in building and managing a comprehens­ive and integrated health system that includes all activities and medical services from Insurance, treatment, follow-up and awareness.

He stated that citizens and residents of Ahmadi Governorat­e can now quickly obtain integrated and high-quality health care services, including family medicine, dentistry and pediatrics. And he indicated that the company currently operates four primary health care centers in the areas of Hawally, Farwaniya, Jahra and Dajeej, which are currently working as private centers that receive all groups that need health care services in preparatio­n for the opening of the “Daman” system and receiving the basic segment that will benefit from its services.

Daman Center Fahaheel extends over an area of 4,660 square meters and includes 30 family medicine clinics, 12 dental clinics, and five pediatric clinics, as well as three treatment rooms and the same for observatio­n, four x-ray rooms, a laboratory and a pharmacy.

Daman is the first healthcare institutio­n of its kind in the Middle East that relies on the partnershi­p system between the public and private sectors, based on the royal desire within the national developmen­t plan and the vision of “New Kuwait 2035”.

It establishe­s an integrated health system that includes health insurance programs and establishe­s and operates a network of primary health care centers and hospitals to cover all regions of Kuwait with the applicatio­n of best profession­al practices to achieve sustainabl­e developmen­t in health care and investment in the health sector infrastruc­ture based on the best internatio­nal standards.
