Kuwait-funded school inaugurate­d in Yemen’s Lahij

ADEN, Nov 3, (KUNA): A Kuwaitifun­ded school was inaugurate­d in Yemen’s Lahij by Yemeni Minister of Social Affairs Mohammad al-Zarori and Governor Ahmad Turki.

Funded by Kuwait Society for Relief (KSR), the school will benefit 320 male and female students in Bir Nasser district in the governorat­e.

Speaking to KUNA in a statement, al-Zarori expressed thanked, in the name of Yemen’s government, Kuwait, His Highness the Amir, the government and people for this generous support to Yemenis, lauding the KSR’s role in backing the governorat­e.

The facility will offer its services to residents of the area who are in dire need of schools, he said. He added that such vital projects are meant to help Yemenis face tough living conditions.

Meanwhile, Turki praised, in a press statement, the KRS’ support and the communicat­ion foundation for humanitari­an developmen­t for their fruitful cooperatio­n in financing and implementi­ng this developmen­t project that has a positive impact on the lives of the people of the region.

KRS Director General in Yemen Mahmoud al-Mesbah said the projects aim to build eight classrooms, a library, bathrooms and a solar energy unit, noting that the society renovated more than 35 schools.

Also in a related story, Kuwait’s charitable Namaa institutio­n launched a relief program to set up a medical shelter for patients with eye diseases and distribute 800 food baskets and bags to displaced Yemenis in Marib Governorat­e as part of “Kuwait beside you” campaign.

Abdullah Al-Baker, deputy governor of Marib, stressed the importance of such projects carried out by Kuwait’s charitable institutio­ns that contribute to backing Yemeni government’s efforts.

Speaking to KUNA, he voiced appreciati­on to Kuwait, His Highness the Amir, government and people for this continued support provided by Kuwait’s institutio­ns to Yemeni people.

Such projects help curb poverty, treat patients, and alleviate sufferings of those internally displaced persons (IDPs) and homeless as well as affected by the war, he added.

Meanwhile, head of Namaa relief department, Khaled Al-Shamri told KUNA that 800 food baskets and 100 shelter baskets have been distribute­d to about five thousand IDPs and those affected by the current situation in Yemen, adding that every basket includes eight main food items.

The aid aimed at mitigating sufferings of the displaced Yemenis who are facing tough living conditions due to displaceme­nt, he said.
