-

Kuwait Ambassador to Italy Nasser Al-Qahtani underlined the importance, Saturday, of participation by Kuwait’s national military institutions in (NATO Defense College) training courses to boost their capabilities, and active role in dialogue and cooperation with international organizations, including enhancing global security and stability.

The remarks by the Ambassador came during the graduation ceremony of the regional cooperation 28th training course, which included three Kuwaiti officers, after an invitation by the Commander (NATO Defense College), Lieutenant-General Olivier Rittimann, and Dean of the College, Dr. Christopher M Schnaubelt, with the participation of representatives of the Italian government and ambassadors.

In a statement to KUNA, Al-Qahtani praised such cooperation with NATO Defense College, the most prestigious academy in qualifying Kuwaiti military and diplomatic cadres within the framework of partnership and dialogue with NATO.

The ambassador stressed the importance on such participation in these advanced courses alongside NATO participating countries, which would enrich their experiences in international arenas.

The ambassador congratulated the Kuwaiti graduates on completing the courses in the highest military intellectual and strategic institute in NATO.

The regional cooperation courses constitute the most important NATO academic initiatives with the countries participating in the (Mediterranean Dialogue) and (Istanbul Cooperation Initiative) and with partner countries in the Middle East emanating from the Riga Summit in 2006.

The courses at the Defense College aim to link issues of common interest between the countries of the (Mediterranean Dialogue) and (Istanbul Cooperation Initiative) on the one hand and NATO on the other hand, and work to develop mutual understanding by focusing on addressing issues of special importance to the Middle East region.
