Winners receive mementos and certificates IPS holds 1st Founder’s Day in memory of Chandy
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 5: The Indian Public School, Salmiya organized its first Founder’s Day recently in memory of its founder Chairman Thomas Chandy – a man with a vision, a philanthropist par excellence and a true patron of art, culture and academics. He was an eminent educationist, a prominent politician, an astute businessman and the former Transport Minister of the Indian state of Kerala. His charitable acts will be fondly remembered by the Indian community in Kuwait.
The Vice-Principal Anil Kumar welcomed the dignitaries and other invitees to the function. The Chief Guest and special guests with the school Principal Mrs. Lucy A. Cherian lit the symbolic lamp of knowledge.
Commemorate
The highlight of the day was the Thomas Chandy Memorial award and cash prize established to commemorate this great leader. The toppers of Class X CBSE Examination, Rupa Majumdar and Sai Siddharth; and the topper of Class XII Commerce Stream Hajar Ghulam Reza, the topper of Science Stream Samiya Khalid were the proud recipients of this award for the academic year 2021-2022.
The owner of the school Humaidi, Chief Guest Dr. Achuthan Madhav and the school Administrative Manager Thomas George awarded the winners mementos and certificates. The cash prize was given away by Joel Jacob on behalf of the management. He announced the family members has taken the decision to carry forward the benevolence and compassion of the founder Chairman. He also reminded the students to spread kindness wherever they go.
Principal Mrs. Cherian congratulated the winners and thanked the members of the management for continuing with the legacy of the founder Chairman, who is fondly remembered as ‘The Prince of Kuttanad’. The Chief Guest Dr Madhav, Principal of Jabriya Indian School, spoke about his close association with the late Thomas Chandy and shared some anecdotes which spoke volumes of the impact this noble soul had on the thousands who interacted with him.
The day was made memorable by a series of programs, instrumental fusion, video presentation on the life of Chandy, a short film by the IPS faculty, mesmerizing dance performances by the students, prayers songs etc. The senior Wing Coordinator Mrs. Sonia Bibin proposed the Vote of Thanks who worked for making the event a resounding success.
