MEW hires 2,000 citizens since beginning of 2022

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 10: Informed sources in the Ministry of Electricit­y and Water said about 260 million dinars have been collected for electricit­y and water services since the beginning of the fiscal year until Nov 9, i.e. within 7 months, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The sources stated that the collection from government agencies witnessed a remarkable movement in recent months, to the tune of about 110 million dinars since the beginning of the fiscal year, with expectatio­ns that the amount will double in the coming months, which is also prompted by the adoption of the budgets of these agencies recently.

In addition, the sources said that the total number of citizens who have been appointed to the ministry since the beginning of this year has exceeded two thousand.

On the other hand, well-informed sources in the ministry said many senior officials were informed yesterday of the non-renewal of their contracts within the framework of the ministry determinat­ion to pump new blood into the various state institutio­ns during the current period.

Kuwait ranks 10th globally: Kuwait ranked 10th globally and fourth in the Arab world and the Gulf in terms of Internet speed using mobile phone, with an average speed of 95.04 megabytes per second, according to the monthly report issued by the ‘speed test’ website for September, reports Al-Anba daily.

Kuwait fell two notches compared to its ranking in the previous month, while Saudi Arabia went up a notch.

For internet speed using fixed broadband, Kuwait ranked 20th globally and second in the Arab world with a speed of 112.5 megabytes per second; while the United Arab Emirates ranked 12th globally and first in the Arab world.

Power usage up: A government report revealed that the item on electricit­y and water consumptio­n of government agencies in the State budget approved by the National Assembly recently increased by KD15.829 million or 20 percent, reports Al-Seyassah.

According to the report, the amount allocated for this item in the last budget was KD80.868 million and this increased to KD96.698 million in the new budget.

Meanwhile, sources from the Ministry of Electricit­y and Water confirmed that the government agencies have been instructed to adhere to the policy of rationaliz­ation in the consumptio­n of electricit­y and water.
