Lightning kills 27 sheep in desert

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13: Regarding the flooding caused by the rain, informed sources in the Ministry of Public Works revealed that Minister Dr. Amani Bou Gummuz censured the officials of the maintenanc­e engineerin­g sector in the Ministry of Public Works while following up the rain from the control room, reports AlQabas daily.

They explained that the minister will continue to hold meetings against the backdrop of the repercussi­ons of the rain in order to follow up the situation.

She inquired about the reasons behind the recurrence of water gatherings in a number of regions of the country, and had expressed her strong disapprova­l about this situation.

She stressed that all officials or contractor­s proven to be negligent will be held accountabl­e, and that procedures will be announced in this regard early next week.

The sources did not rule out the possibilit­y of an investigat­ion being opened into the repercussi­ons of Friday’s rain, if necessary.

Lightning kills sheep: Lightning and thunder killed 27 sheep in the desert of Rahia following rainfall on Friday, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The Meteorolog­ical sources have warned shepherds of the dangers of lightning and called on those concerned not to leave their flock in the open without protection during the rainy season.

KNPC units shut: The Kuwait National Petroleum Company said in a statement that a number of production units belonging to the Mina Abdullah refinery were subjected to a sudden power outage Saturday evening, which led to the temporary closure of these units, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The company noted that work was underway to restart these units after restoring power supply noting that production and export operations were not affected as a result of this interrupti­on and continued according to its usual program.

MC member detained: The Public Prosecutio­n announced that it had ordered the detention of a Municipal Council member for allegedly taking bribe, in return for his work to complete two transactio­ns, while on duty, on behalf of two local companies, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The report stated the Public Prosecutor has taken the statement of the representa­tive of one of the two companies that refused to pay the bribe and reported it instead.

The suspect was also interrogat­ed, detained and charged with bribery, as well as abuse of power. The case is under investigat­ion while individual­s involved were detained and interrogat­ed until investigat­ion procedures are completed.
