Thanima organizes magnificent Onathanima 2022
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13: After the COVID maelstrom which brought the whole world to a standstill, a bright sunshine lured in the sky and this radiance and glow, the Thanima’s Onathanima came to an epic melodramatic end after a relentless toil of long 14 hours of excitement, a cultural potpourri sliced with nail-biting, highly pressurizing tug-of-war matches played flawlessly.
The public function flagged off at 6 pm with a colorful procession, displaying an array of vibrant hues, depicting the traditional and cultural magnanimity that is Kerala. It was preceded by the singing of the Kuwait and India National Anthem respectively. Most awaited prestigious moment of the day was the Pearl of the School Award ceremony which was compered by Kuttithanima members ArpitaJojimon and Noel Alex honoring the 25 Pearls selected from 1 lakh students for proving their academic efficacy and versatility.
Ms. Usha Dileep, Jt Convener Onathanima welcomed the gathering embellished with an array of dignitaries, most importantly chief guest HE Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan to Kuwait Chitem Tenzin, Thomas K Thomas MLA Kerala, Vinod Gaekwad, First Secretary Indian Embassy, Mrs Hind Ibrahim Al Quteimi, Chairperson and owner Kuwait Indian School, sponsors and well wishers. The function was presided over by Thanima General Convener Babuji Bathery and Program Convener Jojimon Thomas. Smriti Puja a commemorative slot for the bereaved and paying respects to the COVID warriors for their incessant toil and selfless service was remembered. Babuji Batheri described Tanima’s activities. Jojimon delivered the keynote speech. Former ambassador Sibi George, who left Kuwait, extended his greetings through a telecast message.
Ambassador of Bhutan Chitem Tenzin gave the inaugural address, MLA Shri Thomas K Thomas, Shri Vinod Gaekwad, Mustafa Hamza Payannur and TA Ramesh lit the ceremonial lamp.
Thomas K. Thomas, MLA of Kuttanad gave the keynote speech by flagging off the competition. Thanima member Benoy, Jacob Thomas, Ruhail and various organizational leaders honored him cordially.
Dr. Dheeraj Bharadwaj, Group CEO, City Group Co KSCP felicitated the Pearl of the School Awardees.
Mazhavil Manorama reality show winner Ruth Ann Toby was honored. Editor and Directory Convenor Johnny Kunnil Tanima briefed about the Annual Directory. Frontline Logistics Director and Country Head Mustafa Carey released the directory from Directory Joint Convener Shamon and the first copy was received by Kuwait Indian School Principal Ms Sabahat Khan. Indian Embassy First Secretary Vinod Gaekwad, Oncost CEO TA Ramesh, BEC CEO Mathew Varghese, Metro Medical Group MD Mustafa Hasa Payyanur, Kuwait Indian School Chairperson Ms. Hind Ibrahim Al Qutaimi, School Principal Ms. Rashid Sabahathwaite Al Khan, famous Kuwaiti singer Ruth Ann, Frontline Logistics Director and Condi Head Mustafa Kari and representative were the chief guests present.
Bini Antony Memorial Education Excellence Award was also presented to Ms Anusha Suresh a Class Seven topper of United Indian School. Trophies for the winners of the 3rd highest tug-of-war competition in Central Asia were held under the direction of Alex Varghese.
