ICESCO chief urges promoting values of civilizati­on alliance

Kuwait keen on cooperatin­g with UNICEF: Minister

FES, Morocco, Nov 23, (KUNA): Director-General of the Islamic World Educationa­l, Scientific and Cultural Organizati­on (ICESCO) Salem Al-Maled called for bringing up children to respect the values of civilizati­on alliance and coexistenc­e.

The educationa­l curriculum­s need to highlight the values of civilizati­onal communicat­ion, humanitari­an fraternity, he said in his inaugural speech to the ninth internatio­nal forum of civilizati­on alliance on Tuesday in Fes city, northern Morocco.

The forum is themed “toward alliance for peace to coexist as one humanity.”

Values enshrined

“ICESCO is proud to have these values enshrined in its vision and strategy. This is why it launched the center of civilizati­onal dialogue and the center for strategic foresighti­ng as well as incubator centers for motivating the creative youth,” Al-Maled pointed out.

He noted that the organizati­ons faces the challenge of developing a community open for the trio of justice, fraternity and equality, which is also a historical challenge for humanity.

“This trio is the way for ending the evils of ignorance, hunger and disease,” he added.

Minister of Social Affairs and Community Developmen­t and State Minister for Women and Childhood Affairs Mai Al-Baghli stressed, on Tuesday, Kuwait’s keenness on strengthen­ing cooperatio­n with UN’s Internatio­nal Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

In a press release after meeting with UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa

Adele Khodr, Al-Baghli said that the goal of this cooperatio­n is to benefit the children in Kuwait in various educationa­l, social and cultural fields.

From her side, Khodr affirmed the importance of Kuwait’s role to the UN, based on its active participat­ion and support in various events.

GENEVA:

Secretary General of the Internatio­nal Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Jaqan Chapagain has lauded Kuwait’s support for various aid

projects throughout the world.

The official expressed gratitude for the assistance during a meeting with the State of Kuwait Permanent Delegate at the UN and Internatio­nal Organizati­ons in Geneva Ambassador Nasser Al-Hain at the federation headquarte­rs in Geneva.

The ambassador told KUNA that the internatio­nal relief official expressed aspiration to increase cooperatio­n with Kuwait particular­ly amid the mounting strifes and catastroph­es worldwide, noting that there has been shortage of financial allocation­s for relief work.
