Embassy celebrates Constituti­on Day of India

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: Embassy of India, Kuwait celebrated 72nd Constituti­on Day of India (Samvidhan Divas) on Nov 26, 2022 and is celebrated on this day every year to commemorat­e the adoption of the Constituti­on of India on Nov 26, 1949. The Constituen­t Assembly of India adopted the Constituti­on of India, and it came into effect on January 26, 1950.

The Chargé d’Affaires Smt. Smita Patil in her remarks stated that the Constituti­on Day of India is a festival for every citizen of India to celebrate the foundation­al document of Indian democracy, calling it the largest democracy in the world.

She referred to the challengin­g global and domestic context of the time during which the Constituti­on was framed and paid tribute to the vision of the members of the Constituen­t Assembly, which included 15 women.

The world’s largest written constituti­on, the Constituti­on of India guarantees fundamenta­l rights to its citizens. Smt Patil in her speech also paid tributes to the victims of the terrorist attack in Mumbai Nov 26, 2008.

The speech was concluded by reading the ‘Preamble of the Indian Constituti­on’.

On the occasion, Indian students in Kuwait read out the Preamble in 16 different Indian languages such as Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada,

Konkani, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

The Chargé d’Affaires also invited the Indian Diaspora in Kuwait to participat­e in Pravasi Bharatiya Divas-2023 (PBD) being held in Indore from January 8-10, 2023.

An exhibition on the making of Constituti­on of India was also organized.
