KUWAIT CITY, Nov 28: MP Adel Al-Damkhi has submitted a proposal to issue cards for retirees to enjoy special discounts for different services including touristic, sports and commercial.

MP Osama Al-Shaheen has proposed allowing citizens who own small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to carry out their commercial activities in public parks. He pointed out that public parks recently lost a number of facilities, so only a few citizens are currently visiting these parks. He argued that commercial activities will play a vital role in attracting visitors to the parks, indicating that SMEs can operate in Anjafa Beach and Arabian Gulf Street.

MP Majed Al-Mutairi asked Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali AlSalem Al-Sabah if Kuwait Army has purchased American tanks M1A2 and M2A2 K1. If yes, he demanded for details like the prices and specifications. He requested for copies of feasibility studies on the two models. He inquired if the first model has been proven to be inefficient. If yes, he wants to know the rationale behind the decision to purchase the other model. He wants to know if the ministry will sell the old tanks, continue to use them or sell them as scrap; if the maintenance for these tanks is under a local or foreign contract; and if it is true that the chassis of new tanks came from the scrap tanks of the US Army.

He also asked about the model P37 boats; including the maintenance cost, life span, countries using the same model, if spare parts are available, if the ministry intends to by Oshkosh trucks made in America, and if feasibility studies were conducted in this regard.

MP Adel Al-Damkhi forwarded queries to Minister of Education, Higher Education and Research Ahmed Abdulwahab Al-Adwani about the legal basis for the issuance of a decision to fill up vacant supervisory positions after the resignation of the Kuwait University president. He asked if Article 12 of law number 76/ 2019 was followed in the publication of recruitment advertisements, if a committee was formed to nominate the new president, and term of supervisory positions included in the decisions of the acting president of the university.

MP Shuaib Al Muwaizri asked Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil Bader Al-Mullah about the low number of Kuwaiti graduates employed in Kuwait National Petroleum Corporation (KNPC). He requested for information like the number of nationals working at KNPC compared to the expatriates and if the recruitment advertisements include exceptional conditions that are impossible for Kuwaiti applicants to meet.
