KUWAIT CITY, Nov 30: The Executive Vice President for Projects and Business Development at the Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) Eng. Nadia Al-Hajji revealed the signing of a consultancy contract to study the economic feasibility of establishing a new olefins complex in Kuwait, reports Al-Rai daily.
In an exclusive press statement, Al-Hajji explained that the fourth olefins complex project in Kuwait is a great addition to the company’s investments, which is the main arm of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) in the petrochemical industry inside and outside Kuwait.
The project is a major step in achieving KPC’s 2040 strategy and its growth path in a way that enhances its growth and its position locally and globally.
The new olefins complex is one of the most important development projects included in the KPC’s plan to expand in the field of high-quality, value-added basic and specialized petrochemicals, which are required globally.
The study will include a comprehensive research of potential petrochemical markets to identify the most important petrochemical derivatives, with economic returns, in addition to evaluating the best technological processes for the production of these derivatives.
The petrochemical sector is the second largest source of revenue for the country after oil.
The complex will provide job opportunities to enhance the participation of the private sector.
She went on to explain that the direction of PIC comes within the framework of its endeavors to enhance the added value of oil derivatives and petrochemical products, and seize the available opportunities so that the returns of the petrochemical industry are considered among the highest returns achieved in the oil industry. The petrochemical industry enjoys a great position in the world of production and consumption, and is involved in thousands of production processes and is distributed in several areas of petroleum-based materials.
