KUDLO, DMW discuss domestic labor recruitmen­t issue

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: A delegation from Kuwait Union of Domestic Labor Offices (KUDLO) recently visited the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) headquarte­rs at the Philippine Overseas Employment Administra­tion (POEA) in the Philippine­s, during which they discussed the domestic labor recruitmen­t issue with Officerin-Charge (OIC) of DMW Hans Leo Cacdac, reports Al-Anba daily.

The KUDLO delegation consisted of advisor of the Union Abdulaziz Al-Ali, Secretary Ali Shamoh and Khaled Al-Qallaf. This is in response to the invitation of the Philippine Federation to accompany them to visit the DMW headquarte­rs.

During the meeting, Cacdac discussed the results of the latest discussion­s regarding the process of recruiting domestic workers. He praised the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) in Kuwait, affirming that the discussion­s and meetings between the two parties yielded positive results.

He stated that efforts are currently focused on finalizing the memorandum of understand­ing (MoU) between Kuwait and the Philippine­s to reach the optimal solution for the domestic labor recruitmen­t issue.

The meeting lasted for about three hours. Cacdac praised the cooperatio­n between the Kuwaiti and Philippine federation­s, the good relationsh­ip between the two parties, and their efforts to solve urgent problems and assist the two countries in easing the domestic labor recruitmen­t process.

Meanwhile, KUDLO Advisor Abdulaziz Al-Ali explained that the aim of the visit is to facilitate the process of bringing domestic

workers to Kuwait, primarily to serve the interest of the Kuwaiti citizen. He hinted on the possibilit­y of accelerati­ng the recruitmen­t process, especially since the holy month of Ramadan is fast approachin­g.

The meeting ended with both sides affirming the strength of relations between the two countries. Based on the joint efforts of the two countries, the MoU is expected to be finalized in the near future to address all issues related to the recruitmen­t of domestic workers.
