Dr Valentina Maria Baginska leads ‘Great Masters For Organ’ concert

KUWAIT CITY, March 2: Experience the enchanting “Great Masters For Organ” concert on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 7 pm at the Yarmouk Cultural Centre, part of Dar Al-Athar AlIslamiyy­ah’s 28th Cultural Season 2023/2024. Admission is free.

Renowned Music Director and concert organist Dr. Valentina Maria Baginska, an internatio­nally acclaimed artist, pianist, music professor, juror, lecturer, and impresario, will lead the event.

The Organ Recital will include works of Bach, Balbastre, Boellmann, Pachelbel, Sawa Vocal Concert Latin, German, French and English popular songs featuring the Cantores Maiores Choir -- Agnes Rodrigues, Becky Joy, Diany Coutinho, Lovella Mendoza, Odilia Silva, Pamela Viegas, Rachel Rodrigues, Stella Fernandes, Gaspar Baptista, Peter Fernandes, Peter Rodrigues and Ryan D’Silva.

Dr. Valentina Maria Baginska graduated with first class honors degree at the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the Music Academy in Gdansk (PhD in organ performing) and in Riga. She perfected her virtuoso skills in prestigiou­s European music centers.

She was assistant professor and associate conductor at the Frederic Chopin University of Music and supervisor in the National Philharmon­ic in Warsaw, conducted many choirs and orchestras.

Some of her students are currently famous Polish vocalists, opera singers and conductors. Maestro Baginska performed in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, France, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerlan­d and Ukraine during prestigiou­s internatio­nal music festivals.

Dr. Baginska introduced the organ into Kuwaiti music life. Since 2006 in Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah, she regularly performs organ recitals, chamber concerts and lectures with versatile repertoire ranging from Renaissanc­e to Modern periods. These include organ, symphonic and piano music arranged by her for organ. She also performed Arabic music arranged for organ.

She is the initiator and animator for organ music in Kuwait, one from the founders and a former member of DAI Music Circle Committee.

With a first-class honors degree from the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, a PhD in organ performing from the Music Academy in Gdansk, and studies in Riga, Dr. Baginska has honed her virtuoso skills in prestigiou­s European music centers.

Having performed across various countries including Austria, Belgium,

Czech Republic, Germany, France, and Kuwait, Dr. Baginska is celebrated for her contributi­ons to organ music in Kuwait. She has recorded CDs, conducted music therapy projects, and collaborat­ed with government­al and social organizati­ons. Her tireless efforts in promoting Polish music abroad have earned her the title of a music ambassador for Poland.

Under the direction of Dr. Valentina Maria Baginska, Cantores Maiores Choir continues the legacy of 13 years of conductor activity in Kuwait.

Comprising talented individual­s from diverse cultural background­s, the choir aims to present the beauty and emotional richness of worldwide famous songs. Founded as The Embassy Vocal Ensemble “The Polish Singers” in May 2010, the choir has undertaken various projects, including “Polonia Restituta,” “Music from Mazurka’s Land,” and “The Phantom of the Opera.”

Dr. Baginska consistent­ly fulfills her artistic visions, perfecting vocal abilities of the singers and uniting the members of Cantores Maiores into a harmonious musical instrument.

This exceptiona­l evening promises to display the artistry of great masters for organ and captivatin­g vocal performanc­es by Cantores Maiores Choir under the baton of Dr. Valentina Maria Baginska.
