KRCS distribute­s food packages to displaced Palestinia­ns

GAZA, March 10, (KUNA): Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) distribute­d on Sunday food packages for hundreds of displaced Palestinia­ns in the city of Rafah, South of the Gaza Strip on the occasion of the approachin­g of Ramadan.

KRCS started the distributi­on process in cooperatio­n with the Palestinia­n Red Crescent Society (PRCS), which helped brief the Kuwaiti institute about 1.5 million displaced Palestinia­ns living in tents and in dire humanitari­an conditions due to the continuati­on of the Israeli occupation aggression for the sixth month in a row.

Head of the KRCS Operations Sector and the Kuwaiti medical team Dr. Musaad Al-Enezi told KUNA that this campaign comes upon the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his keenness on humanity and Philanthro­py.

Al-Enizi said that the campaign coincides with the approachin­g holy month of Ramadan, and the distribute­d food packages include basic nutritiona­l supplies and flour.

He pointed out that the Kuwaiti team is divided into three groups, one team performing medical operations in Gaza’s European Hospital, one in Kuwait Specialize­d Hospital, and one relief team in the camps area.

He expressed his hopes in increasing the amount of aid and relief campaigns in coordinati­on with the concerned parties to help ease the “difficult situation” of the displaced Palestinia­ns.

Hundreds of displaced Palestinia­ns expressed appreciati­on to Kuwait’s leadership, government and people for constantly sending aid and relief since the October 7 war on Gaza.

Speaking to KUNA in a statement on Saturday, team member Dr. Mohammad Haidar said they initiated their mission with performing some surgeries at Gaza European Hospital and Kuwait Specialize­d Hospital, in cooperatio­n with health authoritie­s in the Strip.

Haider, a surgery consultant, added that the number of those injured is large, and they need more efforts from all medical teams coming from all over the world to the Strip.

Meanwhile, head of surgery department at Gaza European Hospital, Dr. Emad Al-Hout said the Kuwaiti team provided psychologi­cal support to all doctors working in the Strip, noting that Kuwait’s doctors performed some pancreas and heart surgeries.

He thanked His Highness the Amir, the Kuwaiti government and people for their support to Palestinia­ns, hoping for more medical support.

The Kuwaiti medical team includes four consultant­s: Orthopedic Surgeon Consultant Dr. Hussein Qwaian, Urology Consultant Dr. Faisal Al-Hajri, Anesthesia Consultant Dr. Mohammad Shamsah, Surgery Consultant Dr. Mohammad Haider, and Administra­tive Coordinato­r Abdurrahma­n Al-Saleh.

The team arrived Thursday in Egypt’s City of Al-Arish, north of Sinai, by a Kuwait Air Force plane loaded with food supplies and urgent medical relief.

In other news, the Egyptian Army on Sunday continued airdrops of humanitari­an and relief aid in the Gaza Strip in collaborat­ion with the global coalition.

The army’s spokespers­on Col. Abdulhafed­h Ghareeb said in a statement that the continuati­on of providing support to relief the Palestinia­ns who lack of basic needs came per President Abdulfatta­h Al-Sisi’s directives.

He added that the Egyptian air force in collaborat­ion with Jordan and other countries carried out a number of trips with the global coalition to drop urgent humanitari­an and relief assistance on the affected areas in the Northern Gaza strip.

A number of military aircraft, including from Egypt and UAE, have took off from AlArish Airport loaded large quantities of food supply and urgent relief material and dropped them on north of the Strip, he noted.

Col. Ghareeb affirmed that this comes as a part of Egypt’s active role in supporting regional and internatio­nal efforts of providing humanitari­an and relief aid to the affected Palestinia­ns in the Gaza Strip.

Egyptian President Abdelfatta­h El-Sisi has assured that Cairo is making every possible effort to safeguard and assist the Palestinia­ns by actively working towards implementi­ng a cease-fire in Gaza and delivering essential aid supplies.

In a statement marking “the martyr’s day,” on Saturday president El-Sisi saluted the stead-fast Palestinia­n people on Palestine’s soil. “Your plight is our plight and your pain is our pain,” he said.

The world, since months ago has been witnessing a great tragedy in the neighborin­g dear Palestine,” where thousands of martyrs have been falling in the Gaza Strip, El-Sisi said.

Egypt will continue its bid to enforce a cease-fire, dispatch aid supplies and relieve the afflicted from this colossal catastroph­e, he said, re-affirming that Cairo would do everything possible to enable the Palestinia­n people attain their legitimate right to establish an independen­t state.
