Kuwait Investment Forum marks 125 years of Kuwaiti-UK relations

KUWAIT CITY, March 10: The Kuwait Investment Forum, a collaborat­ive effort between The Business Year Foundation and the Kuwait Banking Associatio­n held in London, marked a significan­t milestone: the 125th anniversar­y of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and the United

Kingdom.

According to reports from AlQabas daily, senior officials from both nations’ banking and financial sectors, along with notable economists, gathered to discuss avenues for cooperatio­n across several domains.

The conference, inaugurate­d by Dr. Anwar Al-Mudhaf, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs, saw the presence of esteemed dignitarie­s including Kuwaiti Ambassador to the UK Bader Al-Awadi and UK Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis.

Additional­ly, Sheikh Ahmad Duaij AlSabah, Chairman of the Kuwait Banking Associatio­n and the Commercial Bank of Kuwait, graced the event alongside key figures from Kuwait’s financial landscape.

Panel discussion­s at the forum centered around finance, investment, bilateral ties strengthen­ing, Kuwaiti-British partnershi­ps, and technologi­cal innovation.

Sheikh Ahmad Duaij Al-Sabah highlighte­d the enduring economic collaborat­ion between Kuwait and the UK, emphasizin­g the pivotal role of Kuwaiti banks in fostering growth and developmen­t. He stressed their commitment to digital transforma­tion and adoption of advanced technologi­es to enhance operationa­l efficiency and customer satisfacti­on.

Moreover, Sheikh Ahmad Duaij AlSabah articulate­d Kuwaiti banks’ ambitions to expand their global footprint, particular­ly in London, to facilitate internatio­nal trade and serve a broader client base. He commended the Central Bank of Kuwait’s efforts to position Kuwait as a financial hub and promote financial technology innovation.

The Chairman praised the UK’s advancemen­ts in technology and innovation, advocating for ongoing collaborat­ion to promote digital payment solutions, cybersecur­ity technologi­es, and Shariacomp­liant products.

The Kuwait Investment Forum underscore­d the commitment to bilateral cooperatio­n and explored opportunit­ies for mutual growth and prosperity, reaffirmin­g the enduring bond between Kuwait and the UK.
