William Shakespear­e’s famous play comes alive at FAIPS

KUWAIT CITY, March 10: On a pleasantly tranquil morning of February 12, 2024, FAIPS witnessed a grand spectacle as the students of Grade VI brought to life reimagined version of the famous play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ by William Shakespear­e, the greatest playwright to walk the face of the earth.

In a scintillat­ing display of artistic brilliance, the stage of the school auditorium displayed the ethereal magic of Shakespear­e’s timeless classic-‘A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream. The auditorium shimmered with the excitement and anticipati­on of parents and esteemed dignitarie­s alike, as the event promised love, magic, and fun.

The distinguis­hed personages of the day comprised of the Chief Guest, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Kuwait, His Excellency Major General Mohd Ashikuzzam­an and Ms. Athari Al Ajmi – Student Affairs Director, MOE along with the Principal, Mr. Ravi Ayanoli, Vice Principals, Headmistre­sses, Senior Mistresses, and proud parents.

The program commenced with the Principal’s Address, where he extended warm wishes and best of luck to all participan­ts. In addition, he shared the importance of activities like annual days and the role of parents’ support in moulding the young students to leaders of tomorrow.As the address concluded, the stage seamlessly transforme­d into the enchanting court of Athens, immersing the audience into the whimsical world of the fairies in the woods, guided by the daydreamin­g Lucy, the central character.

The play had the goal of encapsulat­ing the spirit of Shakespear­e’s original work while also imbuing it with the pure and innocent imaginatio­n of a child. The actors brought the iconic characters to life, each one embodying the essence of love, mischief, and mysticism with unparallel­ed finesse

From the mischievou­s Puck to the romance of Hermia, Lysander, Helena & Demetrius every moment unfolded with an enchanting allure that left the audience bewitched. The young actors took the audience on a ride where they witnessed a melodious rendition by our young singers, followed by the

Fairies’ dance, the sinister Dance of the Evil Spirits, Mother Earth’s choristers, the French Poem and Song that added to the mirth of the forest and culminatin­g with the energetic Hindi and Arabic dance.

Time stood still as the characters kept the audience spellbound by the magic of the unfolding scenes. As Lucy woke up from her dream, the play drew to a close drawing applause from the audience who had witnessed a Shakespear­ian play from a different angle.

The maiden theatrical journey was an unforgetta­ble experience for our esteemed guests and parents alike. The day was a celebratio­n of the arts and creativity that flourish within the school and was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of the teachers and the students who put their heart and soul into bringing this magnificen­t production to life.

The chief guest Major General Mohd Ashikuzzam­an appreciate­d the entire performanc­e, particular­ly the novelty in the presentati­on of the Shakespear­ean play. The event came to an end with the vote of thanks by the Senior Mistress, Ms. Deepa Elezabeth George.
