Ambassador affirms depth of American & Kuwaiti relations

Sasahara hosts Iftar for local press

KUWAIT CITY, April 4: American Ambassador to Kuwait Karen Sasahara recently hosted an Iftar for the local press at her official residence, reports Al-Qabas daily.

After breaking the fast with dates and sharing Iftar meal together, the ambassador and local media practition­ers shared memories of previous Ramadan celebratio­ns and reminisced over significan­t milestones in the American-Kuwait relationsh­ip.

The Iftar also provided an opportunit­y for meaningful discussion on the media environmen­t in Kuwait and the importance of the press to open societies.

Sasahara stated: “Kuwait is an exceptiona­l place with its own culture and heritage. Kuwaitis show me warmth and hospitalit­y everywhere I go, and I am glad to return the favor by welcoming you to my home during Ramadan. I am proud of the educationa­l, cultural and commercial ties between our countries. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”

Speech

Earlier, Sasahara delivered a speech at the annual Iftar gathering organized by the American Business Council.

Also present at the event were Canadian Ambassador Aliya Mawani, Australian Ambassador Melissa Kelly, and a number of Kuwaiti and American diplomats and businesspe­rsons.

In her speech, Sasahara affirmed the depth of the growing relationsh­ip between the United States and Kuwait through their shared values, mutual respect and commitment to work toward prosperity and peace. Sasahara pointed out: “Our bilateral relations continue to flourish, driven by strong economic cooperatio­n, strategic partnershi­p, and a shared vision for a stable and prosperous region.”

She added: “Cooperatio­n between the US Embassy and the American Business Council in Kuwait has been instrument­al in promoting our common goals and business opportunit­ies that benefit our countries. Together, we will continue to foster an environmen­t conducive to innovation, entreprene­urship and sustainabl­e growth, and lay the foundation for a brighter future for all.”

Praised

She praised the exemplary role and work of Kuwait Society for the Care of Children in Hospitals and Bayt Abdullah Children’s Hospital, as well as their dedication in improving the wards at the hospital to better serve the patients and their families.

“We also praise the influentia­l programs of the Kuwaiti society for following up issues concerning people with disabiliti­es. Their commitment to serving the needs of the most vulnerable groups among us is a testimony to the generosity and compassion that characteri­ze this society,” she added.

“As we break our fast; let us renew our commitment to building bridges of understand­ing, cooperatio­n, and friendship. Together, we can overcome challenges, seize opportunit­ies and create a brighter future for generation­s to come,” she concluded.
